Meet Anne Lahr

Anne Lahr, a local artist who specializes in mixed media and watercolor art, is a woman of many talents and passions. Residing in Waterloo, NY, Anne would tell you that her two true passions lie within her continuing creative journey and her profession in social work. 

Anne is a self-taught artist who continuously proves that when a challenge or risk presents itself, she isn’t just ready – she’s eager. Her home studio is constantly coming to life with new ideas, concepts, designs, interpretations, and artwork. She believes to have developed this passion for combining mediums and images in conjunction with her other love for social work and having worked in elementary social work for years. Aside from and accompanying these two life devotions of hers, Anne loves to spend time with her family, as well as take long daily walks with her beloved 4 legged dog friends. 

When you view Anne’s work, her hopes are that you find yourself embracing the more positive aspects of this beautiful life we live. She intends you to feel uplifted and to have a new sense of hope, faith, and excitement for what is to come. You will find these feelings in her unique composition of meaningful word, phrase, or quote clippings combined with her drawings or paintings. She works diligently to make each piece different and individual, with little surprises to be found the longer you take to enjoy each piece.

You will notice that her layering is most often paired with a main subject in which she is most commonly drawn to birds, butterflies, flowers, and the human figure. This is Anne’s personal venture to touch upon and tell the stories of the many layers within our hearts and souls that yearn to live in connection with the world positively and in affirmative ways.
